A field manual for FrontWars

About this manual

This is an independent field manual for one game, built by reading its client and writing down what it says. It is not affiliated with the developers and it takes no money from them.

The client's What's new panel on 2026-11-03, showing v42.5 marked LATEST and dated October 30, 2026 with two entries: Themes and Fixes & improvements.
What this shows where the version number on every page of this site comes from, and why a guide that does not print it cannot tell you what it is describing.Captured 2026-11-03Client v42.5Plate 1

Why this game

Because the competition is thin and none of it is dated. FrontWars has a specialist wiki, a second guide site and a multilingual fan site, and the ones we read print figures without saying when or how they were read — a shortcut key table that shows one platform's modifier keys as if they were the only ones, a port price that does not match the client's. That is a gap a site which measures can occupy.

The honest version: our own Stage 1 score for this game was 67 out of 100, which is not a recommendation, it is a note that says "worth doing only if you can be different". Four evidence marks and a dated stamp are the difference we can defend.

The four marks

Every page carries four labels, and none of them means "looks right".

What the marks assert
MarkMeans
TESTEDwe did it in the client, and dated it
IN-GAMEthe client's own words, quoted
OFFICIAL ONLYthe store or the game's own page, repeated
NEEDS CHECKwe know it matters and have not confirmed it

What we refuse to publish

Tier lists built from three matches. Build orders presented as optimal. Any number copied from another site without a date. Any sentence that sounds better than the measurement behind it — the style rules for this site forbid "cheaper" where we have a figure, because "cheaper" hides which figure.

Two languages, on purpose

English and French. The language scorecard put six languages above the threshold and we built two, because a 67-out-of-100 site should prove its format before spending a hundred pages on it. The French edition is a full translation, reviewed by a second model pass, and disclosed as such: nobody here claims to be a native speaker.

How this site is made

Static pages, no framework, no tracking beyond one analytics tag, built by a Python script in a project directory and deployed to Cloudflare Pages. The screenshots are the game's, unedited apart from cropping. If you want the receipts, every page links to the section of evidence it rests on.
